2020 Kia Telluride vs 2020 Hyundai Palisade

The 2020 Kia Telluride goes head to head with the 2020 Hyundai Palisade. These excellent new mid-size, three-row SUVs have raised the bar, but which one is right for you?

Here at Barnes Crossing Kia, we want you to have all the information you need when it comes to purchasing one of these midsize SUVs.

The Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade have been built upon the same platform.  They feature the same powertrain, practically the same in size.  While the Telluride and Palisade are the same in many ways, they do have their differences. Both would make great choices if you are in the market for a mid to large size SUV/crossover.   Time to dig into the details and find the one that’s right for you and your family.

Not much difference here.  Both are powered by a 3.8L V6 producing 291 and 262 lbs of torque and mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.  The acceleration is good.  The handling is perfectly acceptable, we are discussing SUVS. And the ride is exactly what you would expect, smooth!   Both share a tow rating of 5,000lbs.  Fuel economy comes in at 19 city / 24 hwy for each of these vehicles in the AWD versions.

Both the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade have set the bar when it comes to interior trim and comforts!  You will find seats wrapped in premium Nappa leather, as well as faux-suede headliners in both vehicles.  And the comfort extends into the 2nd row, where you can get optional heated and ventilated seats!

There are a few differences here in the interior.  The Hyundai Palisade gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, whereas the Telluride has a 7.0 inch analog screen between its main gauges.  The Palisade received power folding third row seats and the Telluride uses a manual process.

Here is where you will see the biggest differentiator between this duo.  The Kia Telluride exudes machismo.  The Tiger Nose frontend make a bold statement.  The bold and proud lettering on the hood’s leading edge. You will find LED running lights on both vehicles, but the amber-hued coloring on the Kia adds the Telluride’s individuality.

On to the Palisade.  Let’s start at the front.  This is the largest Hyundai cascading grille to day!  You will find the LED running lights seem to pass through the bumper between the headlight cluster. The rear is clean but featureless, aside from large letters denoting the model name. The Palisade a slightly more uptown feel in our option.

So who wins? Ultimately that is your decision.  We can’t find fault in either vehicle.

Maybe we’ll just agree to agree: the 2020 Kia Telluride  and 2020 Hyundai Palisade are both winners!
